Rough Days For Diamond Trade is the solo project of the Copenhagen/Berlin based musician and award winning filmmaker Frederik Sølberg.
For the last 10 years Frederik has been a key figure on the Copenhagen indie scene as a member of the bands Ghost Society and Lake Placid, directing music videos and live visuals for bands such as The Fashion, Gravy, and Speaker Bite Me, and promoting shows with named acts like Liars, Colder and Animal Collective.
Rough Days For Diamond Trade tangles with gloomy catchiness, heartbreaking vocals, and dreamy guitars - with references to the dark 80ies, shoegaze, and modern electronic pop. The sound of broken hearts on a dance floor. Like dreams marching in time. The debut EP is released in GSA and Denmark by the mysterious Berlin label LOOKING FORWARD followed by big interest in the project from American Indie labels.
For his Debut EP, Frederik decided to work with the Award winning musicians Cæcilie Trier (CTM, Choir of Young Believers, Chimes & Bells and Jannis Noya Makrigiannis (Choir Of Young Believers) who are both featured on the EP. It is mixed by award winning producer Anders Rhedin (the producer of Choir Young Believes’ debut album), and mastered by Mikkel Gemzøe (who has worked with acts like When Saints Go Machine & Medina).
The music video for the first single is directed by Frederik, and is followed up by remixes by Legowelt, Boom Clap Bachelors, and Money Your Love.
