New music from LA with British post-punk vibes

Monday 11th January 2016

Despite being from the comparatively warm climes of Los Angeles, Sextile seem to be looking towards Britain, to the wonderful bleakness of post-punk age North West England, for much of their inspiration. Beginning their journey in Brooklyn, guitarist/vocalist Brady Keehn and drummer/vocalist Melissa Scaduto made a jump to LA on a whim as the financial climate in New York became too much. Within months of being in LA, the two met bassist/guitarist Kenny Elkin and keyboardist/synths Eddie Wuebben.

Their latest single 'Visions Of You' manages to simultaneously resemble most of the tracks on Joy Division's seminal 'Unknown Pleasures', whilst still sounding new and urgent with the added ingredient of some West Coast surf-punk. It's all captured brilliantly in perfect post-punk fashion in their self shot to VHS promo video which you can watch here:

'Visions Of You' is taken from Sextile's debut album 'A Thousand Hands' which was released last August on LA label, Felte.
