Name, where are you from?
I’m Andrea, born in Rome living in Milan.
What do you do?
I’m a freelance Creative Director. Basically work on concepts for campaigns, event, digital activities… most things that have to do with communication in several fields. My biggest passion is design though. Thinking of my own fashion project at the moment.
Describe your style in three words?
I’d describe it as a subtle iconoclastic boldness.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
I’m not a big fan of crowded situations and cannot think of the best one I’ve been to. (Compared to what my friends told me about big music festival I never attended, wouldn’t dare to answer “Beyonce’s”.) Probably a real big, notable gig I can mention is yet to come. I’m open to invitations.
If you could put any three bands in history on a lineup?
I’m too much of a democratic geek when it comes to music and arts in general. Can’t really fill the line.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
I used to mix American hip-hop style with London-ish skinheads’ elements. I was 20 y.o. though, now I’m definitely more on minimal aesthetics, focusing on keeping a healthy face and soul. Are nuns a subculture? (please, play 'Sister Act' now).
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
It’d definitely be a fancy tea-time talk with Marie Antoinette in her Hameau de la Reine or a deep session of Q&A with Nostradamus.
Where is your favourite independent venue in Italy?
My apartment. Lol, sorry don’t have one.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Don’t really have one but please let me say a word for Kim Carnes who could never really overcome the success of 'Bette Davis Eyes'. She had such a good voice and look but ended up with such a short Wikipedia page. Kim, if you’re reading this, I feel you.

The first track you played on repeat?
'Desperate Andy' by The Cranberries from 'Bury The Hatchet' or 'Daysleeper' by R.E.M from 'UP'. I still remember when my parents gifted me my first portable CD player: I kept on listening to this compilation made of R.E.M. and The Cranberries tracks, translating every lyric because I really wanted to know so bad what those songs, feeling so inspiring to me, were actually about. I still can sing every line of them.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Aurora Sogna' by Subsonica and many others by this incredible band whose music production, in my opinion, can’t be compared to any other Italian band so far. A spearhead of the Italian early 2000 music panorama that never bores me. From the international scene, I’d say 'Another Day' by Lene Marlin and 'Erase/Rewind' by The Cardigans.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
'The Perfect Life' by Moby. It simply goes straight to my heart. I’d mention 'The Trapeze Swinger' by Iron and Wine too. Such touching climax of images, memories and visions, I can somehow relate to and get lost in. To me, they both evoke that perfect balanced bittersweet feeling I love.
A song you wished you had written?
'Life on Mars?' By David Bowie. I think this song has a lot to do with me and my feelings towards the media and contemporary entertainment technologies. Is there an escape from this “saddening bore” film we are living every day? I find myself wondering if there’s life on Mars more often than people would say - if you get what I mean.
Best song to turn up loud?
Basically every song by Queen but the Italian classic milestone 'Vivere Ancora' by Gino Paoli as well.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Du Hast' by Rammstein
A song to get you straight on the dance floor?
'I Want You Back' by The Jackson 5.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
'Cigar' and 'Indigo Night' by Tamino or any other song from the album 'Amir' which I totally love.
An Italian Band you would recommend and your favourite track?
I’d suggest La Rappresentante Di Lista. The album 'BU BU SAD' is really worth a listen. 'Siamo Ospiti' and 'Un’isola' are my favorite tracks.
