03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Supercilious, modern, sleek.

The first track you played on repeat?

Rancid - Fall Back Down

My whole family are music heads so I got of inspiration from them, especially my dad. One of my cousins was in a punk band some years ago now and loved Rancid, I had 'Indestructible' bought for me when I was 7 years old. 'Fall Back Down' reminds me of good family times.

A song from your favorite album?

The Clash - Train in Vain (Stand by Me) - Remastered

I got 'London Calling' one Christmas I was probably 10 or 11. It’s one of my dad's favourite albums and is probably my favourite. 'Train in Vain' stood out for me big time it’s such a vibe. I listen to this album probably once a week.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Fontaines D.C. - Too Real

Brixton February 2020 - lots of my mates went to Glasto ’19 and came back raving about this band Fontaine’s D.C. I jumped on and was completely f*cking blown away. 'Too Real' went off in Brixton. Couldn’t be a bigger advocate of this lot.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Sex Pistols - Holidays In The Sun

Not sure about dancing but this one always gets me excited. The first song off maybe the best album of all time? Lydon’s lyrics and Steve’s riff hooked me instantly. Wish I could hear this record for the first time again.

A new song you're listening to?

DOPE LEMON - Every Day Is A Holiday

I love Australian music. There’s just something different about the whole scene and one of my favourite Aussie artists is DOPE LEMON (Angus Stone) he’s got bangers. This latest one with Winston Surfshirt is sick. Could see myself intoxicated on a beach blaring this one out.

Best song to turn up loud?

The Cure - Open

'Open' by The Cure - because it’s a banger.

A song that defines the teenage you?

Courteeners - Not Nineteen Forever

Courteeners irritate me now, but I can’t deny that this song or any from this album really did define my teenage years first going to gigs etc. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve seen them live - but every time was riotous.

An anthemic song?

Faces - Ooh La La

This was my uncles funeral song - such a tune. He was mad into his music, more rock though which is a guilty pleasure of mine. This song is played late into a family get together after far too many gins, sang at an excruciatingly high volume.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Van Morrison - Into the Mystic - 2013 Remaster

Speaks for itself, massive massive fan of Van. Everyone loves this one surely, you’re lying to yourself if not...
