03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Classic, retrofuturistic, badass.

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

R.E.M. - Electrolite

On my compact disc player (!) on the school bus.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

David Bowie - Word on a Wing - 2016 Remaster

I was listening to S2S when I truly became independent. I was living 17,000km away from my family, commuting to work... and when everything started to feel a bit lonely, this song taught me that even our darkest moments can be transformed into something beautiful.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Lana Del Rey - Freak

Athens, Greece, 2016 - mid-July, under a full moon, Lana in her element. My first real concert and an experience I'll never forget.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Sleeper - Atomic

I first heard this song when I watched Trainspotting. It's played in the scene where Renton first lays eyes on Diane - one of the best sequences in film thanks in part to the viciously good soundtrack.

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

ROSALÍA - Dolerme

What I love about this track is how it simultaneously sounds like the past and the future. That's what I'm all about.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

Blur - For Tomorrow - Visit to Primrose Hill Extended;2012 Remastered Version

I listen to this in the shower, mostly, while pretending to be Damon Albarn.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

The Smiths - Half a Person - 2011 Remaster

16, clumsy, and incurably smitten - something we've all been at one point.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Franz Ferdinand - 40'

This is one of the coolest songs of all time. It makes you feel invincible.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Pulp - Disco 2000

This absolute banger exemplifies why Different Class, and by extension Pulp, won Britpop in the '90s.
