Describe your style in three words?
Cultural, Active, Leisure.
The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?
The New Colony Six - I Confess
I played this song for the first time when I came back home from the second hand store. That’s where I found the 45 rpm copy of this song and was stunned by the tone of guitar that sounded so modern considering that their music was coming out in the '60s.
A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?
Badge Époque Ensemble - You Can Build a Palace, Or You Can Please People
This song means to me, ambition, having or showing strong desire to succeed. The title is very powerful to me. This album is dear to me because of the peace of mind it gives me.
A song from your most memorable gig?
Kikagaku Moyo - Nazo Nazo
The gig was at the observatory in Santa Ana. It was a memorable gig because I longed to see them live many times before I actually got to and it brought lots of inspiration to me after.
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
Super Mama Djombo - Faibe Guine
The intro moves my soul.
A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?
Tame Impala - One More Hour
The song’s lyrics are very moving, with Kevin’s vocals and production creating even more power in the song. Tame Impala’s creativeness and ability to have content that grabs a variety of audiences is inspirational.
Best song to turn up loud? And why?
Tame Impala - Glimmer
I listen to this in my room on my turntable. This embodies the '80s disco era.
A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?
Dirty Art Club - Native's Blood
It reminds me of the bipolar moods of my hectic adolescence.
An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?
Ofege - Nobody Fails
In a time where you are bound to face failure, this song is filled with positive affirmation chants with a tone of power coming from vocalist, Marvin Nolks & the fact that this song comes from Africa from individuals who grew up with nothing but love, makes it much more powerful.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
Brenton Wood - Hide Away
It’s perfect for when you just want to “Hide away".
