03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Oddly mixed bag.

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

The Hollies - Bus Stop

It’s quite hard to remember back really! I do always remember my dad playing The Hollies when I was wee, and their greatest hits was always my pick when choosing the tunes. 'Bus Stop' was a topper.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

The Zombies - Beechwood Park - Mono Version

There’s simply nothing bad to say about this album.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Friendly Fires - Kiss Of Life

These guys announced a single show after 6 years of silence. I’d assumed they’d just parted ways so when they announced their return in 2018 myself and two friends took a trip down to London for the ultimate boogie. Definitely worth the wait.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Carly Simon - Why - 12" Version

It’s just so bloody catchy.

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Hinds - Just Like Kids (Miau)

I love the Hinds girls, they seem like such a good giggle. Would really like to be pals with them.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

The Tornados - Telstar

There’s something about this song that makes me feel really peaceful. Like it’s hard to feel sad when it’s playing, you know those kinda tunes?

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

The Cribs - I'm a Realist

This was my jam back in high school, I still remember fancying the guy in the music video - he had some mop head on him.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Shye Ben Tzur - Junun Brass

This came on my discover a few weeks ago and I haven’t had it off. It’s a driving song, a cooking song, a cleaning song. Helps you get stuff done.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Rod Stewart - You Keep Me Hangin' On

There are a shameful amount of videos of me belting this out after one too many cans. Canny whack a bit of Rod to finish the night off.
