A Knucks Photo
Name, where are you from?
Knucks, North West London.
Describe your style in three words?
Subtle, smooth and clean.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Swindle's 'No more normal' headline...
1. Because I was in it.
2. Because I was able to meet and connect with a lot of artists that inspired me when I was younger and perform on the same stage with some.
If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Sade & Nas. Sade because - it's Sade. Nas because his first album inspired me to get into rap music in the first place.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Dave Chappelle, because I think he’s one of the most insightful people in media.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Dot Rotten because he’s a beast when it comes to rapping, MC’ing and producing.
The first track you played on repeat?
Probably a Missy Elliot song - 'The Rain'.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Replay' by Youngs Teflon - judging by the name, you can probably guess how often I played it.
One record you would keep forever?
'Waiting' by Rachelle Ferrell.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
"Average emcees is like a TV blooper,
MF Doom, he's like D.B. Cooper."
From 'Hoe Cakes' by MF Doom. When I did my research and found out who D.B Cooper was and what the lyric meant, I realised I wanted to give people that same feeling of almost solving a puzzle when they take in my lyrics.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Hot N*gga' by Bobby Shmurda. It’s provocative, it gets the crowd going.
Best song to turn up loud?
'The One' by Headie One. You gotta turn it loud AND reload.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Lady' by Modjo. This song and a bunch of others on the 'Now! That’s What I Call Music' CD’s are very nostalgic to me and inspire a lot of my production.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'I Get Around' by 2pac. It’s always been my favourite Pac song, that and 'Do For Love'.
Any new music you are listening to right now?
I’ve been listening to a lot of the young drill rappers coming out recently...
'Air Force' by Digdat.
'No Diet' by Digga D.
Also, I’ve still been listening to Ragz Originale's 'Nature' project...
'Disaronno Straight' by Ragz Originale.
