A Kyoto Kyoto Photo
Name, where are you from?
Kyoto Kyoto, from Munich, Glasgow and London.
Describe your style in three words?
Chill, casual, vintage.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Lise Davidsen and Leif Ove Andsnes playing Grieg, Strauss and Wagner Lieder at the Barbican. The voice of one person was more grand than most of the bands I've seen live. Plus the repertoire which was played came very close on a personal level.
If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Death Grips and Lightning Bolt because of pure intensity and because it's improbable.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
Most of the subcultures that are happening in London especially the ones that are linked to the venues/music scenes we're part of as a band and as individuals.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, because he mastered all sorts of "Lieder".
Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
Kafe Kult in Munich.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
L’Rain, her music, the lyrics, the production is unbelievable!
Kyoto Kyoto recently released their debut EP 'Mirror Flexing Jaw'. Listen, purchase or stream it via linktr.ee/kyotokyoto.
The first track you played on repeat?
'You Still Believe In Me' by The Beach Boys.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Shuffle Your Feet' by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
'Danger-Keep Away' by Slipknot.
'Legend' by Elder.
One record you would keep forever?
'Bremen / Lausanne (Live)' by Keith Jarrett.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
"Crumbling mosaics and the / Silent banners / Of long-faded triumphs / Lacrimae mundi / The world has grown old / And its tears no longer deluge / In youthful torrents"
From 'IIIIIIIIII' by Krallice.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'One' by Scooter.
A song you wished you had written?
'Spectrum' by Billy Cobham.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Kernkraft 400' by Zombie Nation.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya)' by Ashlee Simpson.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'Loch Lomond' by Runrig.
Any new music you are listening to right now?
'My Love's' by Water From Your Eyes.
'annebolyn' by Argo Nuff.
'One Meal A Day Type Beat' by Ghais Guevara.
'Heath' by Butch Kassidy.
