A Moubarak Assima Photo
Name, where are you from?
My name is Moubarak Assima and I am from Munich.
What do you do?
It is a very complex question for me as I do many things at once. I am a stylist and Editor-in-Chief of moubsen.com. I am also a content creator and work for Lift Your Vision as a social media and creative content specialist.
Describe your style in three words?
Streetwear, techwear and cosy as hell.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
The best gig I've ever been to was by J-Cole. That must have been in 2013. That was also the first concert I have ever been to. 'Born Sinner' is very memorable for me.
If you could put any three bands in history on a lineup?
On my list would definitely be Public Enemy with 'Fight the Power', Linkin Park with 'Numb / Encore' in collaboration with Jay-Z and Mobb Deep with 'Survival Of The Fittest'.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
The subculture that has the biggest influence on me is the hip-hop movement.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
To be honest, there is no musician I would meet with. I would like to have a conversation with Martin Luther King or Malcolm X. Those two have influenced me a lot.
Where is your favourite independent venue?
Good question. I've been to so many events by now, but I haven't been to a venue that has really stuck in my head.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Greatest unsung hero is a bit of an exaggeration, but Lord Apex I like. He is extremely underrated.
The first track you played on repeat?
That's a really good question. I think the first track was 'Von der Skyline Zum Bordstein Zurück' by Bushido.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Waves' by Joey Bada$$ defines my youth well.
One record you would keep forever?
Definitely 'Illmatic' by Nas. My favourite track from the record is 'Life's A Bitch'.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
I can't think of any lyrics. There are many lyrics that I feel, but none have inspired me yet.
A song you wished you had written?
'Heaven and Hell' by Kanye West.
Best song to turn up loud?
The best song lately for me is 'range brothers' by Baby Keem And Kendrick Lamar.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Numb / Encore' by Jay-Z and Linkin Park.
A song to get you straight on the dance floor?
'Way 2 Sexy' by Drake, Future and Young Thug.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
'Glow In The Dark' by Skepta.
Any new bands you’re into at the moment?
At the moment not really.
