What do you do?
designer/fashion model.

Where are you from?
Kyoto

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Massive Attack and Young Fathers at Toyosu PIT in Tokyo in 2017. Actually, the members of Young Fathers are my friends and I got a chance to go to the gig, but Massive Attack was so shocking to me - the images had such strong messages. The music and the artist had a great impact on me, so I could not focus on the other gigs after that.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Maybe the punk scene from the UK. My mother loved rock music and so that’s what I listened to growing up, but punk rock was what I chose first. Including the fashion, like Vivienne Westwood, I became to love the style.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
As a DJ, I’d say CLUB METRO in Kyoto. I used to go there as a guest so I feel something special to it. I played mainly '90s rock music.

If you could be on the line up with any band in history?
Young Fathers. I would love to get on stage with them as a dancer.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I would love to be crazy with Sid Vicious at the clubs in London. It would definitely be fun. I just cannot stop thinking about how it would be!

Your greatest unsung hero (or heroine) in music?
Young Fathers. They have already been active for about 20 years, and they are like legends in my mind but I believe that more people should know them.

04Playlist Notes

How did you select the tracks for this playlist?
It is like a summary of music ranging from what I’ve heard along with my parents as a little girl to what I’ve picked up after growing up.

The first track you played on repeat?
'Sex Bomb' by Tom Jones and 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen.
They are songs from CD's that my parents had and I loved to listen to them.

A song that defines the teenage you?
It’s a pop song, but I would say 'Wannabe' by Spice Girls.

One record you would keep forever?
'The Specials' by The Specials. I don’t know why but I have three records in my house. I always bring it whenever I go out to play as a DJ.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
'Only God Knows' by Young Fathers.
It makes me feel so inspired because I can really feel the punk spirit from them. Originally, their lyrics always have deep meanings.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Rehab' by Amy Winehouse.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
Nēnēs. I like Okinawan folk music.

Any new bands you are listening to now?
Chvrches. I got to know them by watching a TV show in which artists perform live in a studio.
