Name, where are you from?
Adam Ian Sykes of Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs. We’re from Newcastle Upon Tyne. Home of Mark Knoplfer and unfortunately, Sting.
Describe your style in three words?
Monotonous, monotonous, monotonous.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
It may have to be either Oren Ambarchi or an Earth show, mantric like no-one else.
If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
Playing with Earth would be nice. And, my God is it cliché but Hendrix would be even nicer.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
I guess, because of the music we make and the biggest influences on that, it would have to be heavy metal. Especially given that it’s such a broad subculture and one that, arguably blurs into Punk.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Alice Coltrane, from both a musical perspective and a spiritual one.
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
It would likely be Vera in Groningen. A beautiful venue, flexible in size and with an amazing candle-lit bar downstairs built into what feels like a cave. It’s volunteer run and the staff couldn’t be more friendly or attentive.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Eddie Hazel. He’s not exactly unsung but he warrants a lot more singing.
Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs are a Newcastle-based maximalist five-piece whose riffs defy conventional classification, earning them places on underground billings across Europe over the last five years. The band's second album 'King Of Cowards' is due for release on 28th September (2018).

The first track you played on repeat?
When I was younger I used to exclusively listen to music in my older brother’s room. He had a habit of listening to the first half of ‘Ill Communication’ over and over again. So I guess it’d be Beastie Boys - 'Sure Shot’
A song that defines the teenage you?
In my early teens I spent an awful lot of time playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. Hearing Unsane for the first time was a real slap around the head and something that really stuck with me.
One record you would keep forever?
Funkadelic - 'Maggot Brain'
A song lyric that has inspired you?
The lyrics to O’Death are terrifying and beautiful in equal measure. Berzilla Wallin - 'Conversation with Death’ is, for me, the most powerful recording of it.
A song you wished you had written?
Black Sabbath - 'Supernaut’
Best song to turn up loud?
Melvins - 'Boris’
The song to get you straight on the dance floor?
SOPHIE - 'BIPP’
Best song to end an all-nighter?
Sleep - 'Dopesmoker'
Any new bands you are into at the moment?
They’re not new but the new Beak> tracks are sounding great, 'Brean Down’ especially.
