A The Computers Photo
What is your name? Where are you from?
My name is Aidan Sinclair and I'm from South West Devon.
What do you do?
I play the drums in The Computers.
Describe your style in three words?
Classic, soul, punk.
How should your music be listened to?
Loud and carefully with an open mind and a thirst for something new.
What do you miss about home when you’re on tour?
My girl and my dog.
What British music icons inspire your sound today?
Joe strummer, Johnny Marr, Plan B, Jimmy Somerville, and always and forever... King Elvis Costello.
The Computers will release their new album 'Birth/Death' on 30th September (2016) via One Little Indian with a UK tour planned for October.
What was the first song you played on repeat?
'Hello' - Oasis
A song from your favourite album?
'Death or Glory' off London Calling - The Clash
Song you wish you had written?
'Merry Xmas Everybody' - Slade
A lyric that has inspired you?
'Head On' - The Jesus and Mary Chain
As soon as I get my head round you
I come around catching sparks off you
I get an electric charge from you
That second hand living it just won't do
And the way I feel tonight
I could die and I wouldn't mind
And there's something going on inside
Makes you want to feel makes you want to try
Makes you want to blow the stars from the sky
When I was 17, I was driving back home from Plymouth in my mini metro after just buying all their albums. I was at a point in my life of pure frustration. Craving excitement and fulfilment but having to settle for mundane factory life living with parents. I knew what I wanted, I just didn't know how to get it. And for a brief moment this song just soothed me and highlighted a beauty in the boredom. But spurred me on to achieve my goals. Get in a good band and get on the road.
Four songs from new bands you are listening to now, and why?
Plague Vendor - Anchor to Ankles
Because it's just so hard, dark and full of groove.
Ghost B.C. - If You Have Ghosts
I just love the sound of the entire track, dynamics are perfect and it's just a great track.
Jason Deluro - Want To Want Me
I'm just a sucker for a dance floor banger. It's got a great beat and melody. It also has similar production to some 80's pop like Cyndi Lauper. Which is always a good thing in my eyes.
PJ Harvey - The Community of Hope
I'm always interested to see what PJ Harvey will do next. She's just such an interesting artist. I saw her perform this album at the Eden project and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. So captivating. This is the opening song from that album and I love it.
