Name, where are you from?
The Cosmics, we are from the fine city of Birmingham.

Describe your style in three words?
Old People Clothes.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Bruce Springsteen at Croke Park was spiritual, he played for three hours straight and rocked the entire stadium.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Not to be specific but Ty Segall and Thee Oh Sees both at the same time in some small basement in San Francisco.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
I guess Punk, in general, is very influential to us, we still get excited by songs written and recorded 40 years ago and the same energy is still very much alive today. Also, the No Wave scene in New York has been very influential to us, making weird abrasive dissonant music to dance too is right up our street.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Bernadette Devlin McAliskey would be pretty cool to meet. In 1969 she was awarded the key to New York City for her civil rights activism in Ireland and then went straight to Harlem after the ceremony and gave the key to the Black Panthers in Solidarity.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
The Sunflower Lounge because it's like our second home, we've played there countless times and there's just something about that room which makes people lose their shit. Also, Moth Club in Hackney will always be a cool venue to play because it's all fancy and gold, and we had a great time supporting Surfbort there earlier this year.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
The Clean from New Zealand are a favourite, don't know if they're really unsung because I hear quite a bit about them, but still more people need to know who they are. Also, Swell Maps from Birmingham are an incredibly underrated band.

The Cosmics are one of the standout bands chosen for our Birmingham Sound feature back in 2016, shortly after releasing their debut single 'Johnny'.
