03Interview

Name, where are you from?
Twisted Wheel, Saddleworth which falls into Oldham / Greater Manchester.

Describe your style in three words?
Unique, Genuine, Unpredictable.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Primal Scream at Leeds Festival playing 'Loaded'.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
The Clash and Leonard Cohen.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Punk, Mod, Rock, Acid House, Techno, Hip Hop.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Lou Reed.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
John Peel Stage at Glastonbury - Because he'd have liked me and he had passed away before the gig. Also joining Oasis on their last tour at Heaton Park Manchester - that was amazing.

Favourite smaller venue - Band on The Wall Manchester but like lots of the grass root venues where it's up close and personal. Sadly many have closed due to the Noise Abatement issue - why buy a flat next to a music venue and then moan that you can hear music? Keep supporting these venues - they are the lifeline for new up and coming bands.

Your greatest hero or heroine in music?
Paul Weller. I love everything PW has written over the years, his commitment to music and the fact that he is always prepared to try new things. I think he is one of the most professional people in the business and truly cares about his audience.

Originally breaking onto the scene in 2009, Manchester's Twisted Wheel earned themselves a reputation as one of the hardest gigging bands on the scene.
Now in 2018 Twisted Wheel are back with a new line up and new material expected soon.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'Get It On' by T Rex.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'Orgasm Addict' by The Buzzcocks.

One record you would keep forever?
'El Condor Pasa (If I Could)' by Simon & Garfunkel.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
"You've got to roll with it..."
From 'Roll With It' by Oasis.

A song you wished you had written?
'The Wind Cries Mary' by Jimi Hendrix.

Best song to turn up loud?
'I Feel Alright' by The Dammed.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'I Should Be So Lucky' by Kylie Minogue.

Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'24 Hour Party People' by Happy Mondays.
