A Dave Davies Photo
Dave Davies
Muswell Hill, London.
I’m a musician, singer, performer, writer and artist.
Adventurous, fun, classic.
Eddie Cochran - he was my main inspiration although Chuck Berry was equally as important.
US Festival in the states in the early 80s. Unfortunately, recordings and video footage from that festival aren’t available but my favourite live recording of us is The Kinks’ 'One For The Road' doing 'Celluloid Heroes'.
Chuck Berry.
Swami Vivekananda because I thought he was the most cutting edge spiritual teacher that I’ve come across.
Pubs and football. Up the Arsenal!
Share it? I don’t know, we played shows with most sixties performers but I liked The Yardbirds and The Hollies the best.
Everything from Burt Weedon to The Ventures to Leadbelly to Big Bill Broonzy to Django Reinhardt etc...
Dave Davies is the legendary lead guitarist and co-founder of The Kinks. His distinctive guitar sound and unique style have influenced the landscape of rock music for generations.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee released his latest album 'Open Road' in March 2017, a collaboration with his son Russ Davies.
'When You Awake' by The Band.
'Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One' by The Kinks.
'Goodnight Irene' by Leadbelly.
'Three Steps to Heaven' by Eddie Cochran.
'Bad Boy' by Marty Wilde.
'The Philosopher' by Joseph Haydn.
'I’ll Never get out of this world Alive' by Hank Williams.
'Clint Eastwood' by Gorillaz.
'When I Fall in Love' by Nat King Cole - my Mum loved that song.
'You Really Got Me' by The Kinks.
'Give Me Love Give Me Peace on Earth' by George Harrison - I covered it in the 90s - it’s the only cover I’ve done (listen to it in Further Reading below).
Me and Russ’ new song 'Open Road' off our album 'Open Road'.
'Hard Luck' by The Bootleggers. My son Daniel Davies’ song with Sebastian Robertson.
I like a few of her songs but don’t know all the titles - I guess Adele's 'Rolling in the Deep'.
My daughter Lana Davies is a great talent - I love her song 'It’s Been a Long Time'.
