03Interview

Name, where are you from?
Moses Boyd, London.

Describe your style in three words?
Understated comfy chic.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
I'd probably say seeing Prince at Koko in Camden.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley.... just the energy would be incredible.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Grime because it's a culture I grew up alongside.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
Mau Mau Bar on Portobello Road will always be my favourite. The energy, community audience and sweatbox vibes is everything I like.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Gary Bartz, I feel he's not really been given his flowers enough. He's been a part of so much music and his own is so pure and unique.

Village Of The Sun is an enigmatic collaboration between UK jazz virtuosos Moses Boyd & Binker Golding and electronic music legend Simon Ratcliffe of Basement Jaxx fame. Listen, purchase or stream their latest track, TED via orcd.co/vots-ted.
