Soribah Ceesay, I was born in Catalonia but my origins are in Gambia.
What do you do?
I am a model, actor, MC / Singer, Deejay and I am also dedicated to both creating and promoting music events and artists with Sunkusi Entertainment, a promotions company I created in 2015.
Describe your style in three words?
Classic, subtle and precise.
What's the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Jhus at Summerjam Festival 2018.
If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
The Streets and Skepta.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
From the rude boys in Jamaica in the '60s to the British mod culture, the casual style of the '80s in England and more current ones like the entire London grime and garage scene.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
There would be many, but without a doubt one of them would be Malcolm X, it would be an honour to have a conversation with him, he is an inspiration for everything he did for the defence of the civil rights of blacks.
Of all the independent venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
On the dancehall stage of the Rototom Sunsplash.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
The truth is that I have many but without a doubt, Yellowman would be one of them, for all that he has contributed to dancehall and reggae culture.
