What do you do?
Celebrity / model / radio DJ.

Where are you from?
Osaka.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
The XX, who I saw in Queens, NY. I missed the show that they did in Japan but I got to watch them when I went to run a half-marathon in Brooklyn. Although it had a few sounds, the gig was very emotional. I was in the front row, so I felt close to all three members. It was fascinating seeing them lit up by the stage lights.

Which sub-cultures have influenced you?
Dance music, because I did hip-hop dancing when I was young. I noticed since I’ve started to go to clubs that bass heavy music like Grime is the easiest to dance to. I don’t know very much, but I like James Blake and Mura Masa.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
I can't answer properly yet because I've only DJ'd a few times, but I like Compfunnk Records in Kitahama, Osaka. This record shop has a machine to make records and has events at night with good sound. It is next to a river so I like walking out to the shop and having a break in a good season.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
Queen. I’d like to participate in LIVE AID as a support musician. I can only play the piano, so I'd have the exact same part with Freddie Mercury.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I’d like to have a girl’s talk with Amy Winehouse at her house, and see her compose.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
SWINDLE. Their song ‘Coming Home’ is so cool. I want you to listen to it.

04Playlist Notes

How did you select the tracks for this playlist?
I made this playlist from recent musicians because all the music that I like or I'm interested in lately is from the UK.

The first track you played on repeat?
Since I was only listening to American hip-hop when I was teen, so from the UK, I was “intentionally” into ‘Intro’ by The xx.

A song that defines the teenage you?
It’s not from the UK, but from the US, ‘Irreplaceble’ by Beyoncé.

One record you would keep forever?
'1962-1966 (Red Album)' or '1967-1970 (Blue Album)' by The Beatles. I was surprised to find out that I knew almost all their songs when I brought back my Mother’s records in my late Grandfather’s room. It was the first time to listen to their songs carefully, and ‘We Can Work Out’ and ‘In My Life’ became my favourites. I’d like my son to listen to them too.

Best song to turn up loud?
‘Hello’ by Adele. Loudly in the car.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
‘Party Here’ by Octavian. The beat and rhythm are so cool. I went to a gig of his last year and his dance was also great.

New bands you are listening to now?
Bad Sounds, which is a five piece band with two key members. They have a pop sound, good melody and something that reminds me of my youth. I like their song ‘Wages’.
