A Kamohelo Khoaripe Photo
My name is Kamohelo Khoaripe. Born and raised in South Africa; and now Iʼm currently based in Sweden, Stockholm.
Iʼm 1/4 of a music group called Off The Meds and Iʼm the frontman/vocalist of the group. Iʼm also in a DJ collective called Clap Clap Club - a bunch of friends just playing tunes/curating events all over Sweden from raves to weddings.
Sloppy, confidence, careless.
Hmm, best gig, I think it was a club in Stockholm called Kvarteret and DJ Seinfeld came on. He played the 'Hackney Parrot' By Tessela and I lost my legs that night. Wow.
The Clash, 340ml and Cha Cha Cha Guitri. Yeah, Iʼll choose these because Iʼd really love to see them play live, The Clash opening up, 340ml cosying things up and Cha Cha Cha Guitri finishing it up.
The underground rave scene, thereʼs so much love and support down there and a lot of crazy shit. Football fans. My style of writing songs is influenced by the chanting fans make to support and uplift footballers.
Dash Snow, I was really into his art/style of creativity. I remember my friends and me in South Africa discover in 2006/7 we got really inspired.
Since Iʼm based in Sweden, I have to say the Swedish woods. In summer most of the underground kids go out in the woods, find a nice spot, set up a system and boom you have a rave with the best view ever.
Spoek Mathambo, his been pushing South African music/culture to the world for a very long time and he still is. He deserves credit.
'Take Five' by Dave Brubeck. This could easily be the first-ever song made on planet earth, in my opinion.
'A Little Bit Cooler' by The Cool Kids. I think I wanted to look like really cool made music. Gave me confidence.
'Currency Low' by Off The Meds. Because it's my first time releasing a song on vinyl and being featured on a compilation.
'Bubu Dub' by Janka Nabay. This one, I think imma do a cover of this banger. Such a proud boyfriend type of tune. Janka sings about how his baby loves to sing and dance his music.
'Marry Me' by DJ Call Me. The whole song is about a girl asking her boyfriend if she married him, would he marry her back. Special tune. Itʼs was one big ghetto tune in South Africa back then. 20 years ago I think.
'Alley Cat Get Out Of My House' by Chief Kooffreh.
'Tribute To Princess Diana of England' by Chief Kooffresh.
'Back and Forth' by DJ Sneak, Jesse Perez (ft KE).
'Karlaplan' by Off The Meds.
Viagra Boys, Vacation Forever, Jelly Crystal, ShitKid. Itʼs mostly friends/bands from Sweden. I think the amount of creativity and talent in this country is, wow. Iʼm inspired every day.
