Describe your style in three words?

Lapsed goth lothario.

The first track you played on repeat?

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Joan Of Arc (Maid Of Orleans) - Remastered

An early memory is playing this cassette on loop in my Mum's car as we drove into the city centre together. The lead synthesiser made me feel like we were floating through space and when I listen to this album it still makes me feel that way.

A song from your favorite album?

The Cure - Closedown - Remastered 2010

'Disintegration' is famously a masterpiece, but the atmosphere throughout the album always makes you feel like the record is playing just for you. The fact that that songs dealing with such bleak concepts can relate to so many people's own experiences speaks volumes.

A song from your most memorable gig?

HTRK - You Know How to Make Me Happy

I saw HTRK play at the Atonal Music Festival in Berlin right before Venus in Leo was released. Seeing a dimly lit concrete factory full of people completely lost in a song they'd never heard before will always stick with me.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

The Knife - Pass This On

If you've never snogged someone in a club to 'Pass This On' by The Knife, then you have never lived. A banger of the highest degree.

A new song you're listening to?

The Goin' Nowheres - Legacy

The Goin' Nowhere's are a new project from Mat Cothran who performed as Elvis Depressedly and Coma Cinema up until recently. I've listened to Mat's songs on blast for more than 10 years, and I don't feel he's ever got the recognition he deserves.

Best song to turn up loud?

Rowland S. Howard - Pop Crimes

You could forgive bleeding ears for the greatness of this bassline. Rowland S. Howard at his meanest, coolest and most brilliant. Nick Cave could never.

A song that defines the teenage you?

X-Ray Spex - Germ Free Adolescents

I had a brew with Poly Styrene before she died. As a teenager, I was a moderator for a couple of X-Ray Spex fan forums and Myspace pages. She was gaining popularity again and rumblings of the X-Ray Spex reunion gig were starting. I wouldn't be the same without this song.

An anthemic song?

All Saints - Pure Shores

If there is an aux chord I am playing this song. You don't get a say in it.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Bronski Beat - Smalltown Boy

I wouldn't stay awake for anything less than Bronski Beat. This song is just such a brilliant and idiosyncratic belter.
