Name, where are you from?
Naomi (Jan and Naomi), Tokyo.
What do you do?
Musician.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
James Holden and Nathan Fake, who I saw at the Taico Club in 2008.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
I don’t know if it is appropriate to consider as a subculture or not, but music from the Bristol Sound scene like Trip-Hop. I didn’t experience it directly, but I’ve been inspired by it.
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
Kitakore-Bidg in Koenji, Atelier of Chim↑Pom and I played a gig there. They worked for us on the artwork for our album 'Fracture'. The Venue stuck in my mind because the structure of the building was interesting and I had a feeling that the town Koenji created something good and new.
If you could be on the line up with any bands in history?
I’d like to perform as a vocalist for Underworld.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I’d like to lie between John Lennon and Yoko Ono, while they were doing their famous interview in the bed.
Your greatest unsung hero (or heroine) in music?
Travis. I think he should be appreciated more and more.

How did you select the tracks for this playlist?
I don’t care about nationality when I listen to music, but this time, I chose songs centring on 'Roads' from the album 'Dummy' by Portishead, who I’ve been inspired by the most as a UK band. I had also another theme - I tried to put my favourite UK labels into the playlist, such as 4AD, XL Recordings, Domino, Ninja Tune and Warp Records.
The first track you played on repeat?
'Anyone Can Play Guitar' by Radiohead or 'Plug In Baby' by Muse.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Creep' by Radiohead.
One record you would keep forever?
'Dummy' by Portishead.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Penny Lane' by The Beatles. When I was in a primary/junior-high school, I lived in New Zealand. I sang a lot of Beatles’ songs at school.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
‘2 Become 1’ by the Spice Girls because I sometimes I play it and sing.
Any new bands you are listening to?
Bonobo and Floating Points.
