The 1957 Fred Perry Shirt

£75.00

The 1957 Fred Perry Shirt. Marking the year that saw the birth of the true original Fred Perry shirt, the 1957 Re-issue tells the story of how our iconic twin tipping came to be. West Ham fans first approached the famous retailer Lilywhites of London to ask if their club colours could be added to the classic Fred Perry shirt. Lilywhites in turn enquired with Fred Perry, and the tipping was duly added. Our best-loved and most influential style was born. The 1963 Northern Soul Shirt. For the revellers at legendary clubs The Twisted Wheel, The Torch and The Wigan Casino there could only be one shirt: a black Fred Perry with champagne tipping and Laurel Wreath. The 1963 Northern Soul shirt has been recreated with authentic patches using unique artwork from that era. The 1976 Punk Shirt. Celebrating the year that saw the first Punk festival explode out of the 100 Club, London, each 1976 Punk shirt features an original bleach splash to emulate the pandemonium caused when this groundbreaking movement was born. The 1979 Perry Boy Shirt. Perhaps one of the most unique subcultures to adopt our shirt, The Perry Boys rose from inner city Manchester and Salford to become trendsetters on the terraces and night clubs of the city. Going on to spawn the casual and rave scenes that followed, The Perry Boys rebelled against everything around them with wedge haircuts, Fred Perry shirts and Northern confidence the order of the day.

Collection Overview

Spring 2012

Spring comes into early bloom as Richard Nicoll presents his latest designs for the Fred Perry Laurel Wreath Collection. Referencing an all-over floral print diffused from the designer's mainline catwalk collection; SS12 sees an 80s ath-sportswear aesthetic softened by feminine tailoring and a vibrant palette of blue, coral and toast.

These striking printed pieces are balanced by rich leather styles, using a laser-cut technique to create our iconic Laurel Wreath branding.

collection overview

Spring 2012

The SS12 Laurel Wreath Collection hosts a selection of contemporary modernist designs, with a focus on attention to detail. Staying true to the collection's forward-thinking ethos, this season shows a preference for architectural silhouettes and construction.

Key styles include fine gauge cotton knitwear, with a new 'stop-start' interpretation of our signature twin tipping. Layered over tailored shirts and teamed with slim trousers the look is flawless: encapsulating the collection's sharp aesthetic and reinvigoration of classic menswear styles.
