Name, where are you from?
Aisha Badru from Yonkers, New York

Describe your style in three words?
Thrift store chic.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Damien Rice. His music is so beautifully intimate that he can captivate a sold-out room without a band. ‘Delicate’ is my favourite song of his and if you’ve been to one of my shows, you’ve heard me cover it.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Hippies, for sure.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I’d love to pick Albert Einstein’s brain and share with him a few theories of my own. I’m really big into spirituality, quantum physics and the mystery behind life. It’d be interesting to share our two perspectives as we are from very different worlds and very different times.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
Meow Wolf in Santa Fe has definitely been my favorite because it was the most unique. There are immersive art installations throughout the entire two-level building that tell a mysterious narrative and you’re allowed to walk around and enter in all the rooms to interact with the story.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Berlin singer-songwriter Alice Phoebe Lou has a very powerful mind that I hope the entire world gets to peek inside. She’s inspired me to be fearless and not just talk about love in my music. I’d suggest checking out her song 'Society'. Lyrics like hers have the power to open a closed mine and open closed eyes.

Following the release of her poignant single ‘Bridges’, New York singer Aisha Badru returns with ‘Fossil Fuels’ - the latest track off her anticipated debut LP, Pendulum
