It's been a good year for Blur fans so far. Firstly, it was discovered that the iconic South East Britpoppers did manage to be the first band to land a recording of popular music on Mars, aboard Beagle 2 (though sadly not broadcast it). Secondly, in news that will only have escaped you if you were on another planet, Blur have announced their first new album as a four-piece since 1999 (and indeed their first in any formation since 2003).
So, what do we know about this much anticipated release?
• The album is titled 'The Magic Whip' and will be released on 27th April.
• It was recorded in Hong Kong over five or so days, with the resulting recordings being assembled by long time Blur producer Stephen Street (also known for his legendary work with Morrissey and The Smiths).
• The first track to emerge is 'Go Out' - which you can hear via the ice cream themed video below, including some signature Graham Coxon guitar sound.
• And, perhaps best of all, there will be a BIG Hyde Park show to celebrate the release. Tickets on Sale Friday 27th February:
