Name, where are you from?
Kaoru Inoue, Tokyo.
What do you do?
DJ / producer.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
I can’t come up with anything about live gigs, but I watched a lot of videos of Sex Pistols and the early PiL. I remember well that the audience threw bottles to the members of Sex Pistols on their last U.S. tour. Actually, the first band I was in were hardcore punk.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
Punk and post-punk, or perhaps I should say New Wave. They were mainly just UK musicians partly because there wasn’t much music from other parts of Europe around that time.
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
The most impressive place is somewhere that I played a long time ago - Daikanyama AIR, that’s exactly my favourite.
If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
Vini Reilly from The Durutti Column. I’d like to record with him too. He was one of the first signings to Factory Records. I’d also like to play with Dif Juz.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I'd sing karaoke with Paul Weller.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
23 Skidoo, who became a hot topic in the underground in the age of post-punk. And gothic bands, such as Bauhaus and Cocteau Twins.
