Name, where are you from?
Sam Bedford. I was born and raised in Exeter, currently living in London.

Describe your style in three words?
Cheap, durable, basic.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
I'm not really sure I have a singular favourite but I got to see Pile a couple of years ago and they were really good. They’re my favourite current band so was great to finally be able to see them live. Adrianne Lenker at Union Chapel was a very good gig also.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
When I was about 16/17 I started to discover punk and DIY culture and that has probably had the biggest effect on how I view certain things, especially music. A great venue in Exeter called the Cavern was mostly responsible for this. There’s a great sense of community about the place and it brought a lot of good musicians and like-minded people together, which in turn helped me learn a lot about being in a band/being a person.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
In terms of venues I've played, I'm probably going to go for Cavern again for the personal connection, the sound is also really good. Also in Falmouth, there is a barbershop called Blackdog that used to put on really packed tiny gigs, they were really fun to play. As for venues I've been in, Roundhouse always feels pretty cool to visit.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Robbie Basho. He’s my absolute fav musician of all time and I’d love to learn how he played half of the music he made. For the most part, he was not well known and died on the chiropractic table at age 45. Everyone needs a bit of Basho in their lives.
