I’m an artist and I work at Fred Perry — United Kingdom
A Emmie Photo
Describe your style in three words?
Goth Bette Lynch
The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?
Paramore - Pressure
It would have probably been Pressure by Paramore. I listened to them religiously growing up.
A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?
Amy Winehouse - He Can Only Hold Her
Amy Winehouse’s music was the first music that made me ‘feel’ something. Her songs resonated with me for many reasons, particularly this song. It’s on every playlist I ever make.
A song from your most memorable gig?
The Cure - Just Like Heaven
I first saw The Cure at Hammersmith Apollo in 2014 and again in 2016. This is one of the most beautifully written songs by one of my favourite bands. I just remember being in awe with Robert Smith’s presence for 3 hours straight.
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
The Specials - Do the Dog - 2002 Remaster
There’s nothing better to dance to than hard and fast Two Tone. The Specials are always queued on the jukebox when I go out.
A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?
SHY FX - Bad After We (feat. Kojey Radical & Ghetts)
Shy FX has some big tunes that always came on during nights out and at parties. The new album Raggamuffin SoundTape includes so many elements of drum n bass, ragga and jungle which is always a successful mixture.
Best song to turn up loud? And why?
Pale Waves - The Tide
I listen to music in the shower and sing very loudly. I always play this and sing my emo heart out to it.
A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?
Dizzee Rascal - Fix Up, Look Sharp
Me and my best friend would burn CDs for each other and Dizzee Rascal was always our first choice. We saw him at some beach festival over 10 years ago and we thought we were the absolute coolest for doing so.
An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?
Madness - Our House
Madness is one of those bands that brings everyone of all ages together. That’s the importance of an anthem and Our House is the definition of bringing people together. Can’t forget they’re fellow Camden boys!
Best song to end an all-nighter?
Jamie T - Sheila
I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t know the words to this. In a sweaty Camden pub at 4am you’re all grouped together screaming ‘LAAANDAN’ at each other.
