03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Spirit of '69 - that's technically three words right?

The first track you played on repeat?

Billy Bragg - A New England

It wasn't a trip in the car without hearing this one. Got it on record. Rest is history.

A song from your favorite album?

Amy Winehouse - Some Unholy War - Down Tempo

There are so many things I could say about Amy but I will just let her do the talking.

A song from your most memorable gig?

The Specials - You're Wondering Now

This was the encore for the first time I saw the specials. All 300 of us singing at Terry and he hated every minute of it :)

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Benny Troy - I Wanna Give You Tomorrow

It's just special :)

A new song you're listening to?

The Specials - Get Up, Stand Up

Recently saw them on tour and this one stood out particularly. The Specials as poignant as ever, of course.

Best song to turn up loud?

Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine - Sheriff Fatman

If you've ever seen a group of 50-year-old scooterists dance to this, you'll understand why.

A song that defines the teenage you?

Etta James - Something's Got A Hold On Me

Something did have a hold on me. It was this. This song.

An anthemic song?

The Specials - 10 Commandments

What more can I say? Saffiyah Khan. Biblical.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Edwin Starr - Agent Double-O-Soul

It isn't a soul do without Edwin Starr, but it's especially not a soul do if you don't hear him at least 3 times that night. this one is my favourite :)
