Gag Salon, originally from Reading and surrounding areas, now based in south London.

Describe your style in three words?
Incel Patrick Bateman.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Probably This Is Not This Heat at The Albany in Deptford, it was their last performance and therefore very moving. 'Horizontal Hold' is the track that never fails to blow my mind.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Got to be Paul McCartney and Kate Bush I reckon, we’d be devastatingly upstaged but at least we’d stand out and get to watch a great show.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Does 4chan-adjacent edgelord count as a subculture? Somewhat regrettably I spent most of my teens and still do spend probably 80% of my time on the internet and I think that has influenced my cultural tastes immeasurably.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Spending an hour with a complete stranger, no matter who they are, is my idea of hell, so I’d opt for an hour of sitting in on a podcast recording with the late greats Gilbert Gottfried and Norm Macdonald.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
That is very very tough. If I’m bigging up the hometown I should give a shout-out to Purple Turtle in Reading, which is where we came up playing our first proper gigs in our old bands. In London, it used to be The Montague Arms until it was completely and utterly destroyed by whichever sick b*stards bought it in 2018. There’s also this venue in Brixton called The Windmill - not many people actually know about it, to be honest, I think it’ll blow up in the next few years, you should check it out.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Annette Peacock - tragically underrated, as far as I’m aware she was one of the first musicians to manipulate their voice through a synthesizer, and if she wasn’t one of the first, I’ve certainly not heard anyone else do it better since - and this was in the '60s! A true pioneer. It boggles the mind that she’s not a household name. Also gotta give a shout-out to Mariko Goto from Midori, absolute legend.
