Describe your style in three words?
Raw Fish Pop.
The first track you played on repeat?
The Kinks - Dedicated Follower of Fashion - Mono Mix
My parents had a cassette compilation of The Kinks that I used to play on repeat when I was 7 or 8. It was one of those cash-in compilations called something like The Collection Part 2 which probably didn't have a Part 1. It did include this and I used to play it all the time.
A song from your favorite album?
Bill Fay - Garden Song
My favourite album changes a lot, but Bill Fay's first record is always one I think of. I first got into him when I was 19, having just stumbled upon him in a record shop. Bill's songs have humour, charm and a very mysterious quality. This is my favourite song from the album.
A song from your most memorable gig?
Shack - Hazy
I got to see Mick Head in 2014, round about the time when he was making his comeback. Shack have always been one of my favourite bands, so to see Mick live was very special as I didn't know if I ever would a few years before that!
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
Darrell Banks - Open the Door to Your Heart
This track is so euphoric you can't help but dance. There is a big dispute over who wrote this, as Darrell Banks claimed to have been the sole writer. Apparently his only contribution was suggesting the song was sped up - hats off to him.
A new song you're listening to?
Chris Bowden - Mother and Daughters Now Mothers
Slightly cheating but this album has finally come back in print after a 20 year absence, so it's new in many ways. Chris Bowden is a genius and I've had the fortune of seeing him play many a time growing up.
Best song to turn up loud?
The Romantics - What I Like About You
Listen anywhere loud.
A song that defines the teenage you?
The La's - Over - Live In A Stable In Liverpool
I was a La's obsessive as a teenager, and still am. This version of Over was what I wanted any music I made to sound like.
An anthemic song?
David Bowie - The Laughing Gnome
Ha Ha Ha - He He He.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
Frank Zappa - Help, I'm A Rock
Get everyone to leave.
