A Lagoon Wavey Photo
Name, where are you from?
My name is Lagoon Wavey and I'm from Barbados.
Describe your style in three words?
Comfy, flowy and streetwear.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
I've hardly ever gone to any concerts in my lifetime which is something I'd love to change, but I did see Rihanna when she was in Barbados, it was a long time ago but I really enjoyed it.
If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
It would be Frank Ocean and The Weeknd. These two artists by far inspire me more than any other, I've grown up on their discography so for me it's become second nature to pull a lot of my inspiration from them.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
I'm a huge fan of Japanese culture, my dream trip is to go to Japan to collect katanas and shop in the stores, they have my favourite kind of street fashion.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
If I could discuss music with Michael Jackson I would, just to get his perspective and tips on work ethic, truly a legend in my eyes.
Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
I got to perform in Bottletop in London, the venue wasn't huge, but it was intimate and a lot more people showed up than I expected, I really enjoyed that night since I was performing away from home.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Moses Sumney is definitely someone who deserves more praise, his tone and lyrics are so deep and raw. All of his music tends to put me in a deep state of thought.
Lagoon Wavey recently released his new track 'Highway'. Listen, purchase or stream it via lagoon.lnk.to/Highway.
The first track you played on repeat?
'Rock With You' by Michael Jackson.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Tell Your Friends' by The Weeknd.
One record you would keep forever?
'Blonde' by Frank Ocean.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
"I came to visit cause you see my like a UFO / That's like, never"
From 'Self Control' by Frank Ocean.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Rock With You' by Michael Jackson.
A song you wished you had written?
'Pink Matter' by Frank Ocean.
Best song to turn up loud?
'FRANCE FREESTYLE' by Baby Keem.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'I Hate Everything About You' by Three Days Grace.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'Momma' by Kendrick Lamar.
Any new music you are listening to right now?
'Used To Be' by Lucky Daye.
'Touch' by Haleek Maul.
'Monëy So Big' by Yeat.
'Don't Bother Calling' by Moses Sumney.
