A muva of Earth Photo
Name, where are you from?
muva of Earth & Davina/Divine Adeosun-Bright. I’m flowing in South East London right now, originally from Yorubaland but present on Earth x
Describe your style in three words?
Sustainable, unique, creative.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Black Monument Ensemble with Damon Locks, Angel Bat Dawid and Ben Lamar Gay at EartH Hackney a couple of weeks ago - was so inspiring and it taught me the true meanings of expressionism and jazz, inspired to make so many new musical compositions and also pushed me to elevate my performance style.
If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Sun Ra & His Arkestra and sweet Amy Winehouse. Sun Ra because that just sounds like a beautiful night of divine spirituality. And Amy because I would just love to chill with her after, I feel like we got lots to talk about.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
These are not subcultures in my world but, of course, AfriKan spirituality as my roots inspire growth in me every day and I am manifesting to discover more of my AfriKan Rootz and heritage. Spiritual jazz also because our minds and souls are naturally destined to be free.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Alice Coltrane, the beautiful Virgo queen, like me, so much to learn from her.
Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
Earth Hackney is a beautiful space, would love to set there and also at The Barbican.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Sun Ra, why? He knows…

The first track you played on repeat?
Anything by Beyoncé, it was like 2006 when I got my first MP3 player and my cousin downloaded some songs for me and yeah, it was all Beyoncé exclusive ting and I loved it! Will always big up the Queen, she was so there for me as a child, showing me how to be confident and how to slay… Will select a track from the 'Dangerously In Love' album, 'Be with You'.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Fuck Me Pumps - MJ Cole Remix' by Amy Winehouse. I would listen to Amy on repeat as a teenager strolling round London, I sang Amy at my first open mic and at my audition to music school and would always listen to her whilst strolling round vintage shops. This is when I also got into garage so here's a remix of 'Fuck Me Pumps'.
One record you would keep forever?
'Together' by Mathew Halsall. Makes me bare emotional, I feel like I look back on my entire life when listening to this record.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
There are a few but a recent one is "U can't fight corruption with corruption"
From 'You Can’t Fight Corruption With Corruption' by Femi Kuti. Can I get a preach?
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Free My Skin' by Steam Down.
A song you wished you had written?
'Equipoise' by Max Roach.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Dub Fire' by Aswad.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'What’s Up?' by 4 Non Blondes.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'Risin' by the lovely Greentea Peng.
Any new music you are listening to right now?
'Moleman' by Waaju.
'Infant Eyes' by Jamael Dean, Sharada Shashidhar.
'Turn Your Lights On' by Emanative, Ahu.
'Space 4' by Nala Sinephro.
