03Interview

What is your name? Where are you from?
Joel Stoker / Chingford.

What do you do?
I play in The Rifles.

Describe your style in three words?
Simple and classic.

How should your music be listened to?
Preferably not on your phone on the back of a bus without headphones.
I have an old Dansette record player at home and that sounds unbelievable.

What do you miss about home when you’re on tour?
My babies, until I'm home and they start driving me mad.

What British music icons inspire your sound today?
Any with great lyrics and great melody.

04Playlist Notes

What was the first song you played on repeat?
I remember buying 'Live Forever' (Oasis) on vinyl from my local record shop, that got some heavy rotation!

A song from your favourite album?
Favourite album is a very tough question, but I've always loved 'Dark Side of the Moon' from start to finish and I'd have to pick 'Time' from that.

A Song you wish you had written?
'In My Life' The Beatles.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
"If you see your neighbour carrying something help him with his load, and don't go mistaking paradise for the home across the road"
The Ballad of Frankie Lee And Judas Priest / Bob Dylan.

Four bands you are listening to now, and why?

Arctic Monkeys
As they never write anything I don't like.

The War On Drugs
I heard them for the first time a couple of months ago and I really like their sound.

HAIM
I really like that 80's style production

Beck
I like pretty much like all his stuff, but his album, 'Sea Change' always gets put on.
