Name, where are you from?
Valen Lim. Penang, Malaysia.

What music defines the teenage you?
'Fly Away 2' by F.I.R.

A song from your favourite album?
'Only The Young' by Brandon Flowers.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Dancing Anymore' by IS TROPICAL.
'Do What You Want' by Lady Gaga, R. Kelly.
'New Rules (Initial Talk Remix)' by Dua Lipa.

What new music are you listening to?
I enjoy Music Club, the Japanese band. I like the chill and summer vibes from their songs. The merchandise of their band is pretty quirky and interesting too!

I am also recently listening to half•alive (Iove their new groovy music video), Yellow Days and Phum Viphurit.

What are you working on at the moment?
I am just quitting from my full-time job, working on a few self-initiated projects and freelance projects. One of my current projects is to turn my rental house to a library – “Shushi” which means" Room of Books". I like to collect books and magazines but rarely read them all. It would be nice to create a space where more people can read or discuss them together.

04Playlist Notes

'Girls On the Beach' by The Beach Boys.
Love the vocal arrangement vibes. I feel like I’m at the beach whenever playing this song.

'Love My Way' by The Psychedelic Furs.
Love the catchy 80’s pop and the message behind – to feel free with your sexuality.

'Heavenly beats' by Faithless
Love the upbeat vibes.

'Without Excuse' by The fin.
Love the relaxing tunes.

'Sunsetz' by Cigarettes After Sex.
Love the beautiful atmosphere and the theme of good old memories with the ex. Love the sexy voice of the main vocal too.

'Come and Lie' by Jhameel.
Lovely voice with sad lyrics.

'Fall' by Populous (feat. Cuushe).
Love the vocals and the magical beats. It makes me feel as if I’m lying down and staring at the night sky in the middle of the forest.

‘Til It’s Over' by Anderson .Paak.
Great tunes and it brings me so much chilled. I love how it’s playing through with Spike Jonze’s amazing and with beautiful dance move of FKA twigs.

'Chamber Of Reflection' by Mac Demarco.
My “Laying-down-on-sofa-and-think-about-life-at-3am” kind of song.
I like how it resonates the time when I moved to Kuala Lumpur and work a few years ago.

'Hold on to Me' by Hurts.
Lovely and romantic song.

'Higher' by Rihanna.
Love the lyrics and the “drunk” tone of this song. Time for another drink.

'Visions of Gideon' by Sufjan Stevens.
Beautiful piece and well produced. It always reminds me of the heartbreaking final scene of “Call Me by Your Name”.

'I've Been Thinking Too Hard' by Yellow Days.
Love the emotions of the song. I like how the singer talks about depression and anxiety through this song. And the idea to include Alan Watts’s recordings into the intro and outro song.
