Name, where are you from?
Sipho, from Birmingham.

Describe your style in three words?
Cosy, metropolitan, Dad AF.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Sampha was one of the first gigs I went to, meant a lot to me because it’s been his only tour for such a great album. He’s someone that really influences my creations to this day.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Khruangbin and Amy [Winehouse] because bloody hell what a night that would be! (I wanna play a show that makes me cry at least once as well so...)

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Overall black music because without realising it, black genres and sounds have influenced a lot of culture and sound for generations and I only came to truly realise that this past year when I took a look at the different sounds that come together in my music.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Dave Chapelle because while being someone who strongly influenced me and many others that influence me, he’s also someone I have disagreed with. I’d love to take in all kinds of information from him, regarding what brought him to where he is and to just have a general back and forth (dialogue is extremely important in a fractured world full of fragile situations).

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
The tent at End Of The Road fest. It was such a refreshing energy from all the places I played this past summer, out in the countryside with all kinds of people around and fresh air. A far cry from the disingenuous energy the city can bring, with the amount of people that can come with an agenda and not just to enjoy an experience.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Yebba. What a writer, what a voice, what a soul. Just dope bruv.
