I am Dive are not precisely a rock band, and no one is pretty sure of how possible it is to exactly describe the music these two fellows make. I am Dive is the name Esteban Ruiz (Seville, 1979) and José A. Pérez (Seville, 1972) decided to hide behind, about a year ago. The band released ‘Constellations’ EP, their third ep in late 2011 and it was the first one for Foehn Records (Barcelona, Spain), one of the most respected record labels in Spain. Earlier that year the band released ‘Fall’ EP, equally acclaimed by both public and critics, who compared them to such well known artists as Neil Young, Mark Kozelek, Bon Iver, Nick Drake, Jose Gonzalez, Sam Amidon, Jason Molina or Damien Jurado. Then, a few months later, ‘I am Dive Wish Death To Everyone’ EP, was released and the range of names I am Dive was being compared to became wider and bands like The Album Leaf, Thom Yorke, Sigur Ròs, Oneohtrix Point Never, Slowdive, The Field, Boards Of Canada or Sleep Party People were added to the list. Less than two years after I am Dive performed together for the first time, the band has quite heavily toured, including some gigs in France and big Festivals such as Benicàssim International Festival. The band got signed by Slanty Shanty Records in the United States and will see ‘Constellations’ EP released nationwide there in April. Moreover I am Dive will release ‘Tides’ EP next April, 1st and ‘Ghostwoods’, their first LP is already being recorded. 2012 started with a Theater tour in southern Spain and new dates in Madrid y Barcelona, opening for Active Child.
