Legendary indie-rockers The Strokes are the first band to be confirmed for Primavera Sound 2015.
The band, to date have released a total of five albums, and are one of the most influential indie rock groups in the past twenty years. The band's last release was fifth studio album 'Comedown Machine' in March 2013, which was put out with a media blackout: no promotion, no interviews and no tours.
Formed by Julian Casablancas, Albert Hammond Jr., Nikolai Fraiture, Nick Valensi and Fabrizio Moretti, the band have been hinting of the possibility of new music on the horizon.
The members have also been working with other projects; frontman Julian Casablancas has been working with new band The Voidz, who's track 'Where No Eagles Fly' you can listen to here, as well as running the record label Cult Records. Nick Valensi has been collaborating with the B-52s' Kate Pierson, whilst Albert Hammond Jr., as well as his solo career, has been producing for other artists, including The View on their 5th studio album. Nikolai Fraiture has been working with Au Revoir Simone.
Primavera will take place from the 28th to 30th May on its usual site Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona. The first edition of the event took place in 2001, the year that also saw the release of “Is This It” the debut album of the band which, at the beginning of the last decade, put rock back onto the covers of music magazines and prepared the ground for a great number of bands from both sides of the Atlantic who have followed in their footsteps.
The full festival ticket for Primavera Sound 2015 in Barcelona is on sale at the price of 160€.
