Name, where are you from?
We are Walt Disco from Glasgow.

Describe your style in three words?
Cheap and cheerful.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Young Fathers at Barrowland Ballroom back in March. The energy they put into their live shows is incredible, and they are a Scottish group we’ve looked up to for so long so seeing them at a sold-out Barras was perfect.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
Orange Juice and D.A.F. Orange Juice because they have been so influential on Scottish music and ourselves, being on a bill with them in the Postcard Record days would be mad. DAF are a German electropunk/industrial group that have been around since the late '70s, seeing them would be mindblowing.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Punk, New-romantic, Queer, Goth.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Freddie Mercury. Would be fun to write a tune with him.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
I guess our favourite venue we’ve played isn’t really a venue at all. We played The Laurieston Arches supporting our good friends The Ninth Wave’s EP launch and it was the perfect location for it - a BYOB show on a winter’s night at an old abandoned railway arch in the southside of Glasgow.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Tina Weymouth, the bassist from the Talking Heads. Everyone loves David Byrne and rightly so, he’s a genius, but she had such a large impact on why their music is so respected. She played the perfect bass line with the perfect tone on every single track. Tom Tom Club are so cool as well.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'Jenny Don't Be Hasty' Paolo Nutini.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'Let’s Have A Kiki' by Scissor Sisters.

One record you would keep forever?
'Sulk' by The Associates. Favourite track is '18 Carat Love Affair'.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
"I wish I could fill his shoes, but I'm only a 7."
This lyric is so self-indulgent and humorous, I love it! 'Like A Fish' by Matt Maltese.

The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Faceshopping' by Sophie.

A song you wished you had written?
'Word On A Wing' by David Bowie. It’s a beautiful song, 'Station to Station' is one of Bowie’s best albums.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Can’t Stop The Music' by Village People. We own the soundtrack of the same name on vinyl and it gets played at least once a week in our flat. Perfect bucket and mop bop to turn up when cleaning the bathroom.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Baby I' by Ariana Grande.

Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'Road To Nowhere' by Talking Heads, because you’re so out your face you forget where you live.

Any new bands you are listening to right now?
Dave: 'Wished' by Sorry. I caught them at The Great Escape in Brighton this year and they were my highlight of the weekend.

Lewis: 'Afterglow' by Nasari. Nasari are a band from Edinburgh making very dreamy shoegaze-pop. Lovely boys too!

James: 'More Of What' by Crack Cloud. Their debut album came out in June, I think it might be my favourite record released this year.

Calum: 'IBM' by RVG. We saw them at broadcast in Glasgow recently. We didn't know anything about them before, but our friend invited us. Loved every minute of their set!
