Name, where are you from?
I’m BEX, I grew up in a little village on the outskirts of Buckinghamshire and I’m currently at university in Guildford.

Describe your style in three words?
DIY, bold, sexy.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
The best gig I’ve been to recently was Dream Wife. They were so captivating to watch on stage and the vocalist was absolutely insane. Their song 'Temporary' was my favourite of the night! My favourite gig of all time was an All Time Low show I went to with my dad. He put me on his shoulders so I could see the stage, it was such a good night, one I'll never forget. Creeper were supporting and are now one of my many favourite bands!

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
If I was on the lineup with The Pretty Reckless I would literally explode, they are my all-time favourite band, Taylor’s voice is insaneeee. The same goes for Poppy! That would be the maddest gig ever. My favourite Poppy track is 'Concrete' because it’s wild, literally wild. My favourite Pretty Reckless song is 'Light Me Up' - the first track I ever listened to which made me love their music!

Which subcultures have influenced you?
I have been influenced massively by the punk subculture, Vivienne Westwood is literally a God, her designs are mesmerising. I recently wrote a research piece about the Pistols, Vivienne and Malcolm and their effect on today's fashion and culture. I've also been influenced by the goth subculture, bands such as Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure - their styles have really helped me discover my own style and sound.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I’d love to chat with Vivienne Westwood and Gwen Stefani! I think Gwen Stefani is incredible, people should listen to her more. And… Richard Hell, I'd love to chat with him, I’m sure he has many stories to tell.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
My "favourite" changes all the time, but right now my favourite venue is Camden Underworld. I think it’s so cool, dark and dingy. Favourite venue I have played is the Craufurd Arms in Milton Keynes. It was so spacious, big stage and the sound in there was so good. It was such a fun gig supporting Sick Joy, and with it being so close to home meant I got to go and see my dog!

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Taylor Momsen. She is so unique and has such a powerful voice.

BEX recently released her debut single 'Tiptoe'. Listen, purchase or stream it via bex.ffm.to/tiptoe.OYD.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
Probably something from 'Mamma Mia'.

A song that defines the teenage you?
It depends on what part of my teenage years because I had many musical phases. I genuinely don't think I could pick one song!

One record you would keep forever?
'I Disagree' by Poppy. The entire album is immense.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
"I wonder what it's like to die? Sometimes you cross my mind, well that’s a f*cking lie because you’re on my mind all of the time"

From 'Karl' by Pale Waves. It hits me every time I listen to it. I had it on loop for an hour the other night screaming the chorus.

The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
Not necessarily on the dancefloor but at house parties whenever someone plays 'Break Stuff' by Limp Bizkit I always dance. It’s not really dancing but BEX bouncing because I'm like a dizzy elephant when trying to dance!

A song you wished you had written?
'Spit.' by WARGASM.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Sugar' by System Of A Down.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
I quite openly like a lot of different music but I love the song 'Hopelessly Devoted To You' from Grease, it hits like a truck.

Best song to end an all-nighter on?
Can’t say I’m someone who pulls all-nighters, I like breakfast too much!

Any new music you are listening to right now?
'ultraplasticplanetkiller' by CRASHFACE.
'Hurricane Man' by TASH.
'Temporary' by Dream Wife.
'Mannequin' by Kubrick.
'Pretty In Pink' by Scene Queen.
'Petrichor' by Cassyette.
