03Interview

Name, where are you from?
Courting and we’re from Liverpool.

Describe your style in three words?
Sean 1: Baggy pants, polo.
Sean 2: Kinda needs updating.

What's the best gig you've ever been to?
S2: LCD Soundsystem because they’re brilliant at recreating their sound live.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
S1: I’d quite like to play with Blur.
S2: The Beach Boys, because they’re sick.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Musically, I’d say we’re quite influenced by the whole dance-punk scene in the early 2000s, bands like LCD Soundsystem, Death From Above etc - there is a lot of nonchalance around those bands both musically and also in terms of style. I think the prominent idea is to wear what you want and try to look cool in doing so. I think we try not to just do what everyone else is doing, but that’s quite hard when a lot of the bands we like are very stylish.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
S1: I’d quite have liked to spend some time with Keith Haring.
S2: Alan Turing to show him the good that his work did.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
We love Phase One, they do a really nice cuppa. Bonus mention of the Bloom Building in Birkenhead where I saw Squid a few years back. The atmosphere there is really lovely.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
We've been listening to a lot of Jockstrap lately and we all think they deserve way more attention.

'You're Gonna Lose Us' by The Cribs

A song that defines the teenage you?

One record you would keep forever?

A song lyric that has inspired you?
“I lived on a farm, yeah.
I never lived on a farm.”

From 'He Would Have Laughed' by Deerhunter.

The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Boyfriend' by Confidence Man.

A song you wished you had written?
'Noid' by Yves Tumour.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Les Os' by The Unicorns.

Best song to bring people together?
