03Interview

Name, where are you from?
EYESCREAM, Roppongi, Tokyo.

What do you do?
Subculture Magazine (quarterly magazine published four times a year).

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Joe Strummer at ‘FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL 2002’. Precisely, it’s Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros live at ‘FUJI ROCK’ the year before he passed away.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Heavily influenced by the underground music of UK artists, particularly punk rock. There is also a lot of influence from UK fashion which is tied to the music.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
SHINJUKU LOFT. At one point, it was the most frequently visited venue for the gigs, and also for the photoshoots and all.

If you could be on the line up with any bands in history?
To be an opening for The Beatles at the Nippon Budokan.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Joe Strummer.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'Blackbird' by The Beatles.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'Anarchy In The U.K.' by Sex Pistols. A pure massive initial impulse.

One record you would keep forever?
'London Calling' by The Clash. One that heard the most during the formative years of the youth.

New bands you are listening to now?
Superorganism, the multinational band who’s based in the UK. Although it's been a little while since their debut, I think they're new to the times for their borderless stance in every way. No need for categorizing, and that seems very attractive.
