03Interview

Name, where are you from?
Rob Riggs, Leeds.

Describe your style in three words?
Post Tornado Devastation.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
We managed to sneak backstage to watch Rodriguez play at Best Kept Secret recently, that was pretty special. He’s probably the coolest human I’ve seen in real life.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
The Contortions and The Plastic Ono Band. I’d want both James Chance and Yoko Ono to scream in my face.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
The No Wave movement in New York in the late 70’s, Harmony Korine has been a big influence also, both his filmmaking and paintings.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Jean Michel Basquiat. I’d wanna dance, paint and eat fish eggs with him.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
The Brudenell Social Club, Leeds. Because it is!

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Dan Treacy. I was instantly hooked and massively inspired by his beautifully obscure pop songs on ‘...And Don’t the Kids Just Love It’.

Leeds band, Drahla, blend post-punk and experimental art-rock into modern experimental songs and recently played at Robert Smith's Meltdown Festival. The band will kick off their 2018 UK tour with a headline gig at London's 100 Club on 26th November.
