Pip Blom

Musician — Amsterdam

Name
Pip Blom

What do you do?
We make music. And in our spare time, we wash dishes in bars.

Describe your style in three words?
Noisy indie-pop

Which subculture has had an enduring effect on you?
Punk, I guess. My mom and dad were in a punk band and played a lot of music from that time.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I would like to spend some time with my grandparents. They passed away when I was pretty young, but I loved them a lot. I would really like to talk to them again.

Another you? Any other career that would have appealed?
I would love to study Arabic at University, but that’s quite an intense study. So I’m waiting with that. I really want to focus on my music first.

Best gig you have ever been to?
I saw The Ex this year for the first time and was really blown away. They’re such a cool band. Their energy is insane, the songs are all very good and their drummer is one of the coolest I’ve ever seen.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite and why?
The Winchester in Bournemouth is one of the coolest venues we’ve played. It looked so cool and the crowd was amazing. Their backstage was kind of like a jungle and the venue itself was decorated with all kinds of crazy things. Such a shame that it doesn’t exist anymore.

With songs such as 'Babies Are A Lie' and 'School' winning over fans towards the end of 2017 in the UK and US, as well as her native Netherlands, Pip Blom has toured the UK twice, counts Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq among her champions and releases via indie label Nice Swan Records.
