Zuzu

Musician — Liverpool

Name?
Zuzu

Where are you from?
Liverpool

What do you do?
Play music and that.

Describe your style in three words?
Whatever is clean.

You can make a record with anyone from history - who would it be?
George Harrison! He’s just the coolest. Favourite track would be 'Isn’t It A Pity'.

What do you miss about home when you're on tour?
The Cats.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been too?
Conor Oberst at Manchester Cathedral - just because he’s my all-time favourite, it’s always boss seeing your favourite artist. He played 'Hit The Switch' from his Digital Ash album which is my favourite song.

What British music icons inspire your sound today?
I love The Beatles - I know it’s predictable but they really do have a massive influence on our sound even today. Always have a different Beatles song swimming around my brain. Right now it’s 'No Reply'.

You can spend an hour with anyone from history - who would it be and why?
Again, probably George Harrison, but since I already made a fictional record with him I reckon I’d pick Cass Elliot... I want the secret to her sweet harmonies.

What was the first song you played on repeat?
'Can’t Stand Me Now' by The Libertines.

One record you would keep forever?
'Say it Ain’t So' by Weezer.

Song you wish you had written?
'Where Did Our Love Go?' by The Supremes.

Song that defines the teenage you?
'I Will Be Grateful For This Day' by Bright Eyes.

A song lyric that inspires you?
“Victory is sweet. Even deep in the cheap seats.”
'Cape Canaveral' by Conor Obert & The Mystic valley Band.

4 new bands you can’t stop listening to right now?

Hooton Tennis Club
been a huge fan for a while and the new album doesn’t disappoint…boss singles too, it’s on repeat.

Grandaddy
buzzing that they have a new record out, one of our favourite bands ever.

Great Grandpa
new band from Seattle who make the best grungy but melodic tunes. In love with this band.

Car Seat Headrest
So so so obsessed with this band. Lyrically hitting all the right spots for me at the moment.
