Name, where are you from?
The Dunts, from Glasgow.
Describe your style in three words?
Smart, striking, unique.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Arctic Monkeys @ TRNSMT 2018.
If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
The Beatles - because they are the original 4-piece guitar band and they paved the way for bands like us.
Arctic Monkeys - because they are a band who soundtracked our teenage years and who we have matured emotionally from album to album just as the band matured musically.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
There have probably been a lot. No one in particular but a massive fusion of small parts from different subcultures.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I’d spend an hour with anyone who was alive when the Library of Alexandria was destroyed. I think that there were probably a lot of things we knew back then which was simply destroyed. Back then things were stored on scrolls and there weren’t too many copies about, so when they were destroyed a lot of knowledge was essentially deleted from the world. Where would we be if that library didn’t burn down? How many years ahead would we be?
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
Stereo in Glasgow. We’ve played there twice now, with a headliner in April 2018. We were close to selling it out on the door and it was a crazy crazy crowd, and the stage is quite high up with no barrier, it is really class. We will remember it for a long time.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Django Reinhardt - the gypsy jazz king, lightning quick on the guitar and what’s more impressive is that he only has two fingers. Seriously, go look at videos of him playing.
The Dunts are a Glaswegian 4-piece who released their sophomore EP 'Self Proclaimed Council Punk' in September 2018. You can catch playing across Scotland and England this winter - for more information visit www.thedunts.co.uk.
