Describe your style in three words?
Crisp. Clean. Classic.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Cage The Elephant at the Bristol Bierkeller. The whole room went off when they opened with 'In One Ear'. The energy Matt Shultz brings on stage with him is contagious.
Which Subcultures have influenced you?
There’s influences from too many separate places to pinpoint exactly which ones have influenced me. I’m sort of an amalgamation of a load of different aspects of different subcultures which is cool. I tend to not think about what influences me directly too much and just go with it.
If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
For me it’d have to be us, The Stooges and Rage Against The Machine.
That show would be absolute carnage and I’d love every second of it. Imagine hearing 'Gimme Danger' and 'Know Your Enemy' live while both bands were at their peak?
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I guess I’d spend an hour with Keith Moon because that’d probably be the most fun hour I’d ever have in my life.
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
I’d be lying if I said anything other than Club Quattro in Tokyo. The entire time we spent out there we felt like we were in another world.
Still all aged under, Pretty Vicious have now found their footing in the music industry and have unlocked the potential of how powerful their indie rock’n’roll truly is. Pretty Vicious will release their debut album in early 2019.
The first track you played on repeat?
Probably 'Just A Day' by Feeder. It was on the Gran Turismo 3 soundtrack and I used to play that game all the time as a kid, I remember loving that track and turning off all the other songs so I could only hear that one.
A song that defines the teenage you?
If I had to pick just one I’d probably go for 'Oh Yeah' by The Subways. It’s off their album Young For Eternity which is exactly what it feels like as a teen isn’t it? I used to listen to this track non-stop when I was younger and I still do to this day!
One record you would keep forever?
Vitalogy by Pearl Jam. It was one of the first physical records that I actually bought with my own money and it’s an album that really means a lot to me. 'Immortality', in particular, is a track that’s always been important to me.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
The entirety of 'Lien On Your Dreams' by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. My favourite lyrics ever put to paper.
A song you wished you had written?
'Crash Into Me' by Dave Matthews, it’s a masterpiece in my opinion.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Predator' by Modey Lemon, it’s just one of those tunes that doesn’t sound right unless it’s disgustingly loud.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Lost' by Frank Ocean.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Heads Will Roll' by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs is the obvious answer for me.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
You never want it to end do you, but it’d probably be 'I’m Coming Down' by Primal Scream.
Any new bands you are into at the moment?
I’ve been really into Demob Happy’s newest album, particularly 'Be Your Man', so I’d have to say them.
