It's hard to believe that it's seven years since Klaxons released their Mercury and NME award winning debut album "Myths Of The Near Future" (2007). Lauded by many as the eptiome of the decade's flourishing new music renaissance, the band are often credited with coining the buzz term of the era, New Rave.
As band member Jamie Reynolds stated in 2007 in an interview with The Guardian "We fled the nest! I don't regret coining that term, though - it's great that it started as an in-joke and became a minor youth subculture. Some scenes are only named to link certain bands together - Britpop, for example - but this one started with a name and bands are actually forming to fit into it."
The scene had largely dissipated three years later when Klaxons released their progressive second album "Surfing The Void" (2010), the time gap making the release something of a media event. A further four years brings us up to date and sees the unveiling of their third album "Love Frequency" (released 16 June 2014) featuring a collaboration with production duo Gorgon City in the form of lead single "There Is No Other Time".
It appears the trio are still fond of an in-joke. To support the new release, Klaxons have announced that they will undertake the world's first 3D printed tour. Don't believe them? Then watch the video below:
