Describe your style in three words?
Terrace, mod, casual.
The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?
Adam & The Ants - Prince Charming
Sitting on a beanbag with my dads big headphones on in front of the midi-system. I loved the extravagance of the track and the video.
A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?
Primal Scream - Don't Fight It, Feel It
what I love about them is they try and do something different with every album, but this one just got the moment right. They nailed a night out across that album.
A song from your most memorable gig?
Doves - Pounding
Their songs just blow me away. Amazing energy, and ranging from dance to lo-fi indie. This track more than any other gets us all jumping about like loons. How they weren’t ever bigger than they were is a crime.
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
New Order - Temptation - 7" Version; 2015 Remaster
That guitar just keeps going, the bass line drives it on, the words lift you up, just beautiful.
A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?
W. H. Lung - Simpatico People
Lots going on but simple at the same time! It’s builds up and makes you want to dance. Can’t wait to see these live.
Best song to turn up loud? And why?
The Stone Roses - Waterfall - Remastered
For a song with a relatively low tempo it really does benefit from being turned up to 11. I know many won’t agree but following it up with Don’t Stop, the backwards version of it that came after it on the lp is a must.
A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?
Inspiral Carpets - Joe
Sweaty dingy clubs and waiting hours for a lift home. Their first few singles documented the mundaneness of suburbia and it’s social issues to a tee.
An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?
The Smiths - There Is a Light That Never Goes Out - 2011 Remaster
Still has everyone in the room arms aloft singing it, even those who weren’t a glint in their parents eyes when it came out.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends
Going out dancing like a loon again, hopefully someone presses repeat and you do it all over again.
