Tattoo Artist — Osaka

Name
Haskey
What do you do?
tattoo artist.
Where are you from?
Osaka, Japan.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
I've done a lot of work with a Japanese musician named BASI from IN-SIST. I did a live painting at one of his events. So I had a chance to watch the gig from various angles. It was an experience I’ve never had before. The final gig of the tour at Daikanyama-LOOP in May of 2018 was especially impressive.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
I like the artwork for a brand called ISLE, which is derived from the British skateboard brand ‘Blueprint’. Unlike the wood-based Japanese culture, it has an atmosphere of street born from stone-based culture.
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
The venue called Umeda SHANGRI-LA stands out in my memory because I did live painting on the stage at BASI’s gig. After I finished painting, he started to play the show in front of my work.
If you could be on the line up with any bands in history?
Motörhead. I’ve listened to their music since I was little due to my father’s influence. I’d like to do live painting on stage at one of their shows.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
King Krule. I’d like to ask him to sing with his guitar for 30 minutes and talk with him for the remaining 30 minutes. Most of his songs have dark tunes, so I’d like to see his humanity.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
King Krule. And from filmers/photographers, Jacob Harris. From tattoo artists, Caleb Kilby.
How did you select the tracks for this playlist?
Songs I listen to while I’m working, which mainly aren’t intense.
The first track you played on repeat?
'Shine' by Aswad. Just because my parents were listening to it, I “heard” it too.
One record you would keep forever?
'Legend' by Bob Marley. It’s a 'best of' album and I think it’s the best.
Best song to turn up loud?
Japanese song, ‘THE NIGHT’ by Yutaka Ozaki.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
Canadian artist; The Wayo. I like her song ‘Overjoy’. I knew it by chance from a link to the Charlotte Day Wilson video.
Any new bands you are listening to now?
SUPERORGANISM, which I introduce on my playlist.
